Item Description
Tall 11-3/8x32.25" first printing paper poster for Sept. 4-6, 1970 "Open Air Love & Peace" festival held at the Isle of Fehmarn, Germany. Along w/a line-up that included Ten Years After, Sly & the Family Stone, Emerson, Lake & Palmer, Canned Heat, Vanilla Fudge, Procol Harum, Rod Stewart and the Small Faces, The Incredible String Band, Joan Baez and others, Jimi Hendrix would perform his last concert before his untimely death just two weeks later on Sept. 18. Hendrix performed on the last day of this festival w/bandmates Mitch Mitchell and Billy Cox. Poster features great art of overflowing field of foliage w/performer's names incorporated into design, "Jimi Hendrix" the largest among them at bottom center. Image of drummer is hidden in the field at top center, his kit having peace symbol drumhead. The poster for this historic event was produced in several color varieties and two sizes, this is the larger of the two in bw as opposed to smaller color version. Poster has tiny 1/8" tear just left of top center, but is o/w clean and VF/Exc. Historic poster for the greatest guitarist of all time.
