Item Description
Lot of three prototype items related to "Golden Wheat Soy Mix For Griddle Cakes And Waffles" premiums. 10.5x15.5" artboard w/attached sheet of vellum has mixed media original art for prototype sign advertising series of six tattoo transfer sheet premiums issued w/packages of pancake/waffle mix. Hand-lettered text reads "Use Them As Souvenirs Of The Glorious Victories." Left has image of boy dressed as a sailor showing off his transfer tattoos w/image of tattooed sailor behind him. Example images of the six sheets are also shown, w/two having magnifying glass over them. Right has image of Golden Mix box and pancakes. Sheet has moderate rippling as applied to artboard and shows scattered margin wear and dust soiling. VG/Fine overall. 4.5x13.5" sheet of paper w/mixed media original art for preliminary box design showing front and two side panels w/hand-lettered text. Front features sailor w/side panels describing premium w/rough outlines of sheets and children applying tattoos. Box at left has area for "Newspaper Adv." although this remains blank. .25" tear at bottom of this area but o/w clean and VF. 4x6.5" four-page paper folder for "Set No. 1" of tattoo transfers. Front cover includes hand-lettered text and sailor boy portrait, back has Golden Mix ad w/lines for text. Inside of the folder has 17 different full color mixed media original art tattoo designs, including sailor, mermaid, hula girl, skull and crossbones, soldier, whale, etc. Some lt. dust soiling and pencil smudges but VF overall. Art comes w/Einson-Freeman Co. Inc. typed letter to Sam Gold date Jun 17, 1946 regarding production of the tattoo transfers. 5" crease at lower left, scattered dust soiling but Fine. Great prototype lot w/choice art, all is unique. From the archives of premium creators Sam & Gordon Gold and comes with LOA.
