Item Description
Lot of three approx. 4x15.75" thin artboards w/India ink original art by Barney Google creator Billy DeBeck. All feature three panels each, w/Snuffy Smith wearing soldier's uniform in each. April 3 art features Snuffy manning anti-aircraft gun on rooftop only to be confronted by large stereotypical African-American woman who ignores him and starts putting up her laundry. Last panel shows wet laundry flying off roof, hitting policeman. Back has "No Trespassing!" title in blue pencil. April 21 art features Snuffy's fellow soldiers teasing him over letter from beautiful woman who wishes to be added to the "'Keep 'Em Happy'" club, sending a lock of her hair. Last panel shows Snuffy returning the woman's favor. trimming some hair from his mustache. Back has "Snuffy Sends A Sample" title in blue pencil. April 25 art features another letter from a beautiful woman, noting that she's from Tampa, FL, which causes local Florida base to radio, asking her last name. Back has "Information Wanted" title in blue pencil. DeBeck has signed last panel of each. First two artboards have King Features Syndicate copyright strip in second panel while last artboard has strip in last panel. Last two artboards have aged screentone accents added. Artboards have some lt. aging/dust soiling but art remains clean and Exc. overall.
