Item Description
Large 27x35.75" frame w/custom double-matte holds artboard w/pen and ink original art for Sept. 18, 1938 "Right Around Home" Sunday page. Art is by "Right Around Home" creator Dudley Fisher (1890-1951), who also nicely watercolored the art. Fisher's comics focused on one family in a unique format, employing an elevated down-angle view showing numerous characters in an immense single panel that completely filled an entire Sunday page. This is no different as seen here in "Our Family Reunion!" page, showcasing dozens of characters in farm setting, including boy driving tractor. Second thin strip at bottom shows silhouette of family leaving in their car. Bottom center has King Features Syndicate copyright strip. Bottom right has black ink inscription "Regards To Elizabeth Holmes - Oct. 1, 1938" and has been signed by the artist. Upper left corner has 4.5" repaired tear, but o/w art remains clean and displays Exc. Art is further enhanced by custom comic strip border on matte, created by artist Dan Makara. Neat display. Dan Makara Collection.
