14x23.25x9.5" deep cardboard box w/lid contains foreign mash-up of two Gerry Anderson properties - "Thunderbirds" and "Fireball XL5". Made in Mexico by Ledy, featuring toys originally produced by two US companies. 1960s. Advertised as "Serie Apolo Electronica," lid lifts off to reveal illustrated insert that holds pieces from playset pieces originally made by Multiple Toymakers as part of their "Fireball XL5" playset - two Jetmobiles, six character figures (including Steve Zodiak, Venus, Professor Matic, Commander Zero, Zoony and Robert Robot), rocket launcher (w/four rockets) and pod unit. Playset also includes battery-operated "Thunderbirds" Excavator originally made by Bandai and renamed "Serie Apolo Electronica - Escavador Lunar" w/sticker labels on side. All remains complete and attached as issued, pieces having never been removed (and battery toy remains untested as such). Comes w/original instruction sheet and guarantee papers. Box insert art shows "Thunderbirds" vehicles, including the Excavator. Box shows moderate wear w/some moisture staining along right edge of lid and moderate inward warping of box and insert sides. Box is VG/Fine overall while contents remain Exc. as packaged. interesting combination of two popular Anderson properties. Scarce.
