Item Description
Group begins with 7/8" showing a man falling from a balloon with city buildings below. Text is "Drop In Buffalo 1901/Pan-American Exposition." Back paper has tiny text naming W&H as the maker but with text naming the button designer as Edward A. Muth along with a design patent date of May 9, 1899. Next are pair of 1.25" both with W&H papers. The button with Native American holding a tray from which a buffalo eats has three hairline cello splits running horizontal and crossing the buffalo's feet as well as the river water flowing over Niagara Falls. These hairlines catch reflected light but are very tiny and just slightly felt to the touch. Button remains stain free and glossy. Third depicts Liberty along with Native American and they rest their elbows on a dust pan centered by a buffalo. Text is "Pan-American, Buffalo/Liberty/Peace/In-Dust-RY/1901." Last is 1.75" without back paper but with curl naming W&H. Text names the 1901 expo and shows a large arch with the words, repeated twice, "The Land Of The Midnight Sun." The top of the arch has tiny text "Ed. M. Bayliss Great Electrical Production." Background has many tiny light grey marks but still wonderful color and rare. These four are from Collectible Pin-Back buttons color plate pages 150, 154, 161. Comes with Hake's COA.
