Item Description

Large and impressive 13.25x20.5x6" cardboard box w/hinged lid contains elaborate A.C. Gilbert set No. 20 issued in the 1950s. Illustrated lid feature graphics of child magician w/wand pointing to scene of devils w/magic cauldron. Lid shows moderate wear w/color rubs to edges and corner tip wear w/tape repairs to all four corners. Front left edge has area of moisture staining. Fine overall. Set appears complete w/wonderfully illustrated cardboard insert on underside of lid that holds several magic playing cards; a number with set in die-cut devil's face. This insert also holds three manuals - "Gilbert Handkerchief Tricks, Gilbert Mysto Magic Instruction Book" and "Gilbert Knots And Splices." Case has insert tray that holds a number of different tricks including magic coins, heavy glass vase, etc. and tray has large opening at center. Tray lifts off to reveal 16 individually boxed and labeled Gilbert magic tricks surrounding large wooden box w/metal disc on front w/Chinese character. Lid to the wooden box lifts off to reveal two additional boxed tricks, more metal hoops and small worn envelope w/parts. Set appears complete and shows little to no use. VF/Exc. Old store stock.
