12.25x24.25x1.75" deep box contains complete and unused set by Kontrell, c. early 1970s. © Peter Max. Box lid features Max artwork around center photo of chess set. Lid has 1" piece of tape and some scattered edge wear and moderate corner tip wear. One corner split has color touch-up and glue repair. 1.5" tape pull to surface paper on side panel. VG/Fine overall. Large 23.25x23.5" board w/Max designs border. Chess pieces are colorful die-cut cardboard featuring Max design on fronts/backs. Pieces are contained on four cardboard sheets w/overall size of 10x19" and still sealed by original shrink-wrap, though this has some splits and has come loose but is included. Set also includes rules booklet w/Max art on front cover. While no longer sealed cellophane, parts remain unused and NM. An exceptional and well-designed Max item.
