Item Description
Lot of nine posters from the 1940s used to promote war bonds. Original "Official War Poster" envelope contains five identical 22x28" WWS 551-A posters published by US Government Printing Office #0-490186, 1942. Graphics feature image of flag w/Revolutionary War militiaman w/rifle. Text reads "Let's Fly This Flag By New Years - Everybody At Least 10% In War Bonds." Each has been folded as issued w/varying degrees of handling wear. VF-Exc. Envelope is addressed to International Chain & Mfg. Co. of York, PA and shows edge wear w/moderate creases. Top has been sliced open. Fine. 9.5x13.25" poster features man shaking Uncle Sam's hand w/factory in bkg. "Buy A Share In America" War Bond text. Scattered handling wear w/creases more evident at top. Fine. Three additional posters each measure 16.75x22" and all feature photo(s), including images mother w/young children (marked "Sarra"), soldier w/crying child and soldier w/factory worker. All have been folded as issued and are Exc. Campbell Family Collection.
