Item Description
This rare 1940s button is 2-3/16" with text "Sun-Times Comic Capers Club." Center has large illustration of Superman flying while above are Nancy, Sluggo and the head of a parrot. Reverse has tin covered back with horizontal pin. This is an outstanding example in high gloss and NM condition displaying Mint. This button was first pictured and promoted in the January 1949 Chicago issued publication titled TV Forecast which provided scheduling information to Chicago viewers. The text of the article references the Sunday Sun-Times newspaper as well as TV channel WBKB. The TV program featured Don and Vera Ward reading some of the "Funny's" from the newspaper and offering this membership button. We've had only a few examples of this button in our 49 years and this precise documentation of its origin was only recently discovered in a copy of the publication found in the  Franco Toscanini Superman Collection.
