Item Description
21.75x21-7/8" artboard has 17.75x17-7/8" image area in acrylic showing Polish Air Force PZL P.11 fighter aircraft and two PZL.23 Karas aircraft, a light bomber and reconnaissance aircraft designed in the mid-1930s by PZL. The primary Polish reconnaissance bomber in use during the Invasion of Poland, the Karas planes bear markings of the 42nd Reconnaissance Escardille and art shows gunners of the two Karas aircraft waving to one another. Art is by Otto Kuhni, who has been doing freelance work since 1962, including some projects for Mattel that predate his involvement w/Hot Wheels (for which he is predominantly known) in 1967. Kuhni also produced freelance work for Lockheed, McDonald Douglas, Max Factor, L.M. Cox, Challenge Publications, Galoob and Tyco among others. While we were unable to find a specific model that used this art, it is highly likely that this art was created as model kit box art. 1960s. Kuhni has signed at lower right. Margins have some aging and lt. wear, but art remains clean and Exc. Detailed and impressive original art.
