Item Description
Original cardboard box w/illustrated lid contains 11" long tin litho bus w/vinyl tires and friction action. Made in Japan for the Japanese market, 1970s. Box lid features repeated illustration of enclosed toy on three panels. Scattered corner tip/edge wear w/right end having some moderate creasing/denting. Fine/VF. Bus's lithography features the Grendizer robot from the super robot TV anime/manga created by Go Nagai. The third entry in the Mazinger trilogy, the anime was broadcast in Japan Oct. 1975 to Feb. 1977 and his first appearance in the US was as a part of Mattel's famed "Shogun Warriors" toyline, where he was known as Grandizer. Grendizer is depicted on top of box and cab and side window feature characters from the series, including Great Vega, Blacky, Gandal and others. Friction works and bus is NM. Rare as boxed.
