Item Description
"Stamp Day For Superman" is a 1954 bw short film starring George Reeves as Superman and Noel Neill as Lois Lane. Produced by Superman Inc. for the US Department of the Treasury to promote the purchase of US Savings Bonds. Never shown theatrically, it was distributed to schools as a means of educating children about the program. Offered here is "Superman Promotion Material" folder measuring 9x12.5" and featuring image of Superman standing on film reel w/"A 16 mm Sound Film" text and "Stamp Day For Superman" name. Folder has moderate aging at edges and some scattered corner creases. Fine. Also included is two-page typed sheet featuring Reeves biography. A clipping from a magazine shows scene from film w/Superman talking to schoolchildren. This is accompanied by 4.75x5" wood ad mat mold used to create lead castings for letterpress printing of this photo image (w/caption text). Typically thrown out after the cast was made, this ad mat is made of a wood pulp product. Exc. Rare and first we've offered in our 49 years. Franco Toscanini Collection.
