Item Description
Original envelope w/illustrated "Doc Savage Magazine return address contains 8.75x11.25" stiff paper "Portrait Of Doc Savage Especially Painted By Walter M. Baumhofer For Doc Savage Magazine." 1930s. Envelope has original cardboard insert but shows moderate wear w/margin tears, large edge split and insect damage. Good. Envelope is very rare and the first we've offered in our 49 years. Two premium pictures were produced, both featuring Baumhofer art. One featured close-up Doc Savage portrait while other (offered here) featured near full body image. Both are rare but this version is much rarer. Scattered handling wear at margins, which have some tiny scattered surface flakes, but not affecting the bright, striking image of Savage. Fine overall but image still displays Exc. Impressive and rare premium picture.
