Item Description
5.5x8.5" w/206 pages. This is a first edition copy of Hunter S. Thompson's seminal work "Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas" which marked the advent of what became known as "Gonzo Journalism." Book has original dustjacket w/Ralph Steadman art as well as various Steadman illustrations throughout the book. Random House, ©1971. Initially written as a series for "Rolling Stone" magazine, story was collected in book form and is now considered among Thompson's best works. Pages are clean and bright and hardcover has trace age fading along top edges of outer boards, a typical issue w/this book. Exc./NM. DJ is unclipped w/original $5.95 price intact but DJ has .5x3.75" area of creasing at lower right front corner. Bottom of back cover has more significant wear, w/creases in 1.5x5.5" area and .25" tear at bottom. Fine overall. Still a nice example of one of the landmark publications of the counter-culture movement.
