Item Description
Lot of three nearly fully realized pencil sketches of Superman by Curt Swan, each on the unlined backs of 3x5" index cards. Swan, (1920-1996), is best known as the artist most associated w/Superman during the period fans and historians call the Silver Age of comic books, producing hundreds of covers and stories from the 1950s through the 1980s. Each features totally different image, w/green card having portrait image including Superman's "S" symbol and "All Best" inscription. Blue card has image of Superman from waist up, one arm held at waist level w/"For Michael's Brother - Name: _____ - Best Wishes" inscription. Yellow card has similar image of Superman from the waist up, but w/both arms shown and "With Best Wishes. Stay In School!!" inscription. Partial "To Michael" inscription visible, but mostly erased. All have been signed by Swan in pencil. Some lt. handling wear w, but Exc. overall. Franco Toscanini Collection.
