Item Description
11x14.5" box contains set No. 330 by American Toy Works, © Superman, Inc. c. 1940. Box has some crease and surface paper wear at lid corners and some surface paper flaking along left lid edge. Some scattered faint moisture staining, but not distracting. Fine overall. This is the larger of two Superman sets produced by this company and features different image of Superman on lid that is repeated on illustrated insert (smaller set featured image of Superman as if he was holding water bowl). Set consists of wooden artist pallet w/six pads of paint and eight larger paint pads attached directly to insert along w/tin litho water bowl and die-cut holders for three generic crayons which are missing along w/generic paintbrush. Set also includes 5.25x6.25" packet of four sheets w/printed comic images to color. These sheets are attached at top center w/single staple. Contents remain unused w/crack to one paint pad. Coloring pages have even aging and lt. edge wear but o/w contents are VF/Exc. Rare and first we've offered of this version in our 49 years. Franco Toscanini Collection.
