Item Description
Two pieces. 20.5x24-5/8" matte has 15.25x19.25" opening revealing striking mixed media art with Zeppelin in flames after being hit by Sopwith Camel. Art is signed in lower right in white paint "George Evans/91." Comes with 7x8.25" sheet of thin artboard with color pencil preliminary art on front showing similar scene though less detailed. Reverse side has pen lettered text at bottom in black ballpoint pen "The Color Rough For A Painting Commissioned What, Eight Years Ago, By My Patient Friend Alan Grossman." "Sopwith Camel" vs. Zeppelin "L." Evans is noted for his aviation story art for EC comic books in the early 1950s as well as his art of the "Secret Agent Corrigan" strip. Both pieces are Exc. Nice examples.
