Item Description
See lot #1120 for the history of this ring. When issued, there was a dark red enamel paint background around the lettering which surrounds the Superman image. Very few examples are known today with much of the paint intact, with our example as lot #1120 an important exception. Typically, after being worn, the ring top is a dull brass color. This example is the polar opposite. The collector who consigned this ring had it professionally plated with the ring top in 18K gold making the slogan and Superman breaking the chain image easily seen with bright and uniform 18K gold luster. The 18K white gold plating on the ring base gives it an outstanding reflective sheen. While no longer in its original state, the 18K gold and white gold plating makes this the most striking and best looking example of all the few examples we’ve seen over five decades.
