Auction #216 - Part II
Item numbers 978 through 2735 in auction 216
Large and impressive 14.5x21" thin artboard has pen and ink original art by legendary Spider-Man artist John Romita Sr. that shows full body images of Captain America and Spider-Man (who hangs upside down from web) at left, presenting an array of items associated w/the elderly (walker, can, hearing aid, "Geritol, Polygrip," etc.) to assembled group of 32 characters from "The Muppets" as well as "Sesame Street." Captain America cheekily says "Now That You've Reached The Happy Age Of Thirty..." w/Spider-Man finishing statement w/"...Here Are Some Thing You Can Use!" This justifiably prompts looks of anger and disbelief from the likes of Animal, Gonzo, Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Dr. Teeth, Bert and Ernie, Big Bird, Fozzy Bear, Cookie Monster, Sweetums and others. Further hand-lettered text at bottom right reads "Just Kidding Of Course... To Your Continued Good Health! From All Your Friends At Marvel Comics." This published piece dates to 1984. Artboard has even lt. aging and a few small spots of white correctional fluid touch-ups. Some minor margin soiling, but art remains clean and Exc. Great detailed art, a truly special and unique Romita piece.
