Item Description
Lot of four small items from the 1930s. Lot includes two 1.25" dia. newspaper-issued buttons, one from the "Buffalo Evening News," the other from the "Pittsburgh Post-Gazette." Both have Bastian Bros. imprint on curls. While Buffalo button has "Buck Rogers" name at top, it features image of aviator. "Buffalo Evening News" backpaper. Pittsburgh has "Pittsburgh Post-Gazette" backpaper. Both backpapers mention contests. Trivial surface wear only in reflected light. Exc. Pittsburgh button is scarce. These are the only two newspaper contest buttons we know of to picture characters from the strip. 7/8" dia. "Buck Rogers In The 25th Century" club members button has Whitehead & Hoag backpaper and is Exc. 1-5/8" tall silver luster (w/blue bkg. paint) "Space Ship Commander - Buck Rogers Solar Scouts" badge features portrait of Buck accented by rocketships. Reverse has bar pin and folded piece of metal w/small hole that serves as whistle. This piece also has facsimile "Buck Rogers" signature and "To My New Space Ship Commander" text. Cream of Wheat premium, 1936. Exc. w/near 100% blue paint remaining.
