Item Description
Original 8.25x11.75x2" deep cardboard box w/wonderfully illustrated lid contains complete and unused, factory-sealed parts for wind-up model kit. Made in Japan by Aoshima for the Japanese market, model features Superman fighting "Dragon" monster. This is No. 3 of a numbered set that included two other Superman models, one depicting him fighting Pteranodon (see following item #2109) and another where he fights a robot. Other model kits in the series included Ultraman/Kaiju and Planet of the Apes-inspired kits (which are pictured on side panel of lid). Box has some handling wear, w/edge/corner creases to lid, but box retains its shape and remains clean and glossy. Fine/VF. Comes w/full color die-cut cardboard sheet featuring same image as small inset images of Superman on box and different image of Dragon fighting Superman's dog Krypto (who does not appear to have been used for any of the three Superman model kits produced by Aoshima) while another image of Superman fights robot. Exc. Also included are illustrated instruction folder (w/Japanese text) and certificate to send in (along w/two other certificates) for Spectreman t-shirt. This certificate's offer expired Sept. 20, 1971 (Japanese year Showa 46), effectively dating kit to 1970-1971. Kit is unused and remains Mint as factory-sealed. Rare and first we've offered. Franco Toscanini Collection.
