Item Description
8.5x10.75" complete June, 1948 issue w/great Louis boxing photo cover. Issue came out after Louis's rematch against Jersey Joe Walcott. Determined to win and retire w/his title intact, Louis signed on for a rematch. On June 25, 1948, about 42,000 people came to Yankee Stadium to see Walcott knock Louis down in the third round, w/Louis recovering to knock out Walcott in the eleventh. Louis would not defend his title again before announcing his retirement from boxing on March 1, 1949. Front cover has been signed in black ink, w/Louis adding "Best Wishes To Carl." Issue has even aging and some lt. handling wear. Fine overall. Fantastic image w/signature on white area so it stands out. Comes with Hake's COA and JSA LOA.
