8.5x11” typewritten letter from publicist Ulysses S. Boykin dated Jan.7, 1936 w/“Joe Louis America’s Newest Knockout Sensation” letterhead is addressed to Cecelia Chancellor in Columbus, Ohio. Much personal content including mention of “Roxborough” who was Louis’ manager at the time, Louis’ wife Marva, and “Happy 36”. Signed in pencil “Ulysses”. Two folds as mailed, otherwise Fine. Comes w/matching but worn VG envelope. Boykin was also owner of the Detroit Tribune at some point. Louis would beat Braddock the next year and become heavyweight champion. Next is 5.5x7” soft cover titled “Joe Louis ‘Brown Bomber’ Argument Settler.” 1940 First edition cartoon book w/64 pages w/numerous cartoons by Eugene E. Williams. Covers have light wear. Fine. Contents Exc. Last item is 3-3/8x5” original vintage candid glossy snapshot showing Louis in suit at dining room table. Light creasing. Good. Interesting trio for one of the greatest heavyweight champions in history.
