Item Description
Ornately carved 24.5x32" frame holds art which has been double-matted to approximately 14.75x22.5". Art is done in India ink, story taking place over 12 panels (title panel included), art being done by Max Fleischer, Koko's creator. Art ran Dec. 1, 1934, one of only 4 "Koko" Sunday pages published, this being the only known to have survived. No daily strips were ever done. As the title suggests, Koko emerges from ink well to see mouse run by, intriguing him. Next panel shows cat chasing after mouse further intriguing him. This is followed by dog chasing after cat which causes Koko to give chase to all 3 of them, only to have dog turn around and growl, leading mouse, cat and dog to reverse their order and chase Koko back into the ink well, all of them leaping into ink. Inkwell stopper fastens in last panel. Art is lightly aged and Exc. Great whimsical content. Unique and Rare.
