Item Description
Linen-mounted one-sheet poster for the 1922 Fleischer cartoon featuring Koko the Klown. Poster contains several Koko-themed elements including interaction with a human-sized object (a desk calendar), the iconic inkwell and the "Out Of The Inkwell" studio logo at the bottom of the poster. To our knowledge, this is the only "Inkwell" theatrical poster to survive, as well as the only surviving poster from Koko's period as a solo star (later 1930s posters pair him with Betty Boop). This poster is also the only color Koko image we've seen from this early in his career revealing that at this early stage of his evolution, the clown had a yellow face with rosy pink cheeks rather than the white face he would later be known for. Minor restoration along fold creases. Displays Exc. Rare.
