Often when prototypes are originally sculpted, they are done at a larger scale, in this case the figure was sculpted at twice the size of the production toy, hence the term 2-Up. This 2002 Toy Biz hardcopy is approximately 11” tall when assembled. It is made from a tan colored resin and has been pinned at the joints. This resin is a hard material that would show the fine details of the original sculpting. It would be hand poured into silicone molds in order to finalize the figure before tooling was made, or in this case before the figure was used for the pantograph process which would have resulted in 1:1 scale hardcopies. This piece was likely used as a presentation piece or as a paint master for the figure. The figure is fully pinned and jointed with an amazing paint job (including some colors that were changed for production). The lower left leg is missing the top of the joint but this does little to detract from this piece. Finding any 2-up is very rare and you can see the matching painted 1:1 first shot figure that is also offered in this auction. Fine/Exc.
