10.5x15-5/8" artboard has pen and ink original art by George Evans (1920-2001) for Our Army At War #269, published by DC Comics June 1974. Page is from Robert Kanigher's "A Man Called Rock" Sgt. Rock story and features six panels, showing a weakened and delirious Sgt. Rock crawling across the desert to help rookie soldiers before collapsing. Story page 5. Sgt. Rock appears in every panel. All word balloons have been hand-lettered. Top margin has stamped "Army At War" title, "Joe Letterese" inkstamp and inked issue/page numbers and month of publication. Top and bottom margins have been signed in black and red ink by Evans (red signature has aged to brown in color). Art was obtained directly from Evans in the late 1980s. Aged strips of tape at upper left/right margins and at bottom center margin. Some lt. margin dust soiling, but o/w art remains clean and Exc. Lawrence Klein Collection.
