13x20" DC Comics artboard has pencil original art by Ed Hannigan w/inks by Mike DeCarlo for New Teen Titans Vol. 2 Annual #1, published by DC Comics Sept. 1985. Splash page features two inset panels as well as two additional inset figure images of Superman and Brainiac (in his robotic form) in battle. This is Brainiac as styled by Hannigan. Inset panels show Superman subdued by Brainiac, while rest of page shows mental battle. Story page 27. Superman appears three times while Brainiac appears five times. Artboard comes w/separate vellum overlay w/additional original art for printed effects. All captions/word balloons pasted stats; one caption missing at lower right, revealing some glue staining. Top margins of both artboard and overlay have inked title and issue/page numbers. Artboard has name of artist Rich Buckler. Margins of both have copious handwritten notes regarding printing. Back has DC Comics copyright inkstamp. Artboard has some aged printer registrations along margins and shows some margin dust soiling, but o/w art remains clean and VF/Exc. Comes w/9x12" sheet of paper w/smaller vellum sheet attached w/tape. This sheet bears ink/inkwash original art for preliminary study for this page, presenting interesting insight into design process.
