In the words of Lawrence Klein the founder of the Museum of Comic and Cartoon Art and MoCCA Art Festival:
"I’ve incorporated a fundraising component into this Hake’s auction that is especially meaningful to me and my family. I’ve selected several original works of art and other cool & interesting pieces from my personal collection, and 100% of my proceeds from the sale of these specific pieces will be donated to four nonprofit organizations that are close to our hearts:
The Center for Cartoon Studies
The HERO Initiative
The Berkshire Humane Society
The Berkshire Art Association
I’m hopeful that this charitable aspect of the auction will resonate with collectors and fans alike. It’s especially gratifying to be able to share pieces from my collection while supporting organizations whose work I value deeply."
"I’m also including a special group of autographed, matted posters from the early years of the MoCCA Art Festival. Because I wasn’t paid for my work with MoCCA, I wanted to create a meaningful souvenir of the festival’s beginnings. For the first MoCCA Art Festival, I personally paid to have two festival posters matted, with the idea that guests and participating artists could autograph them. My plan was to keep one for my own collection and the other to the MoCCA collection.
I continued this tradition for the festival’s first four years, creating a unique record of those early gatherings and the people who helped make them special. I’m particularly pleased that these personal souvenirs can now take on a new purpose: continuing to support the four nonprofits that are so meaningful to me and my family. One hundred percent of my proceeds from their sale will be donated to these organizations."
