Item Description
All items are related to the appearances at Jules Podell’s Copacabana Nightclub. Nine pieces from 1965 include American Guild of Variety Artists contract initialed by Jules Podell, noting a payment of $2500 for three weeks appearances, rider initialed by Jules Podell with second option noting payment of $5000 weekly for two weeks, unsigned carbon copy from Jules Podell exercising first contract option, and return letter from “International Talent Management” acknowledging receipt of option signed by Dick Bundrant. Comes with carbon copy “Rider For Individual Artist Agreement” with bold blue ballpoint pen signature at bottom “Supremes-Diana Ross”. Also includes pencil sheet noting division of costs for band between the Copacabana and the Supremes, die-cut card for nightclub table, 8x10" James Kriegsmann publicity photos, and four page promo folder. Last three items all show Diana Ross with Florence and Mary. Final item is 1968 note written on restaurant receipt inquiring about taking large parties for Saturdays during Supremes engagements. A few lt. handling creases here and there with trace of lt. aging but overall group is Fine/VF. At the time of these appearances in the mid-1960s, the Supremes rivaled the Beatles in worldwide popularity.
