Item Description
16.5” tall. Made to commemorate the crash of the plane that took Rogers’ and Post’s lives in Aug. of 1935. High relief busts of both on front of globe. Plane at top of globe with “W.P./X-12-0” embossed on wings. Both names appear at bottom front of base. Globe has “USA/South America/Africa/Asia” identified. Wiley Post was the first man to complete a successful solo flight (non continuous) around the world between Jul. 15 and 22, 1933 in his single engine Lockheed Vega. Will Rogers was a very popular humorist, writer and story teller best known for saying “I Never Met A Man I Didn’t Like.” Cloth-covered cord. Original glass shade as issued. Works. Worn finish across names at bottom front. Traces of luster wear on high points. Not offensive. Scarce lamp. Scarcer with original shade. VF.
