Item Description
Painted tin airplane with 6.75” wide wingspan. 5.5” long. Attached to 4.5” long round bracket with nut/bolt at back. c. late 1920s as plane is styled like Lindbergh’s “Spirit Of St. Louis” but no identification as such is found. Silver luster propeller moves. Ideally, when this ornament was attached to the radiator cap of a Model T or Model A. The propeller was intended to spin as the car progressed forward. Holes in the wings and sides allow for display of flags. Included in this lot are seven 8” long US flags from the 1950s. Flags here are newer than airplane. Small areas of oxidation are seen under unpainted portion of wings. Painted portion remains glossy. Silver luster motor and propeller as well as the attaching bracket retain much of their original silver luster. Certainly a delight to view as the car with this ornament attached by with flags flying and propellers spinning. First we’ve seen. 1950s flags show lt.wear. VF. Ornament is Exc.
