Item Description
34.5" X 35.5" framed and matted presentation consisting of two original graphite pencil concept drawings and original typewritten three page storyline synopsis. For Marvel Super Special #5 from 1978. This large format comic book series debuted in 1977 under the title "Marvel Comics Super Special", the title then shortened beginning w/issue #5. Issue #1 featured Kiss, who then returned by popular demand in issue #5. Issue #5 featured an occult adventure in which the members of Kiss face a wizard from "The Land Of Khyscz." All is thoroughly detailed in the synopsis which has some pencil corrections. John Romita, Jr. did the final artwork for this issue and Ralph Macchio/Alan Weiss did the script. Both pieces of original art are about 11x17 and feature great full figure, full band images and both are signed "Romita, Jr. 1978." Both are very detailed and superb depictions of "The Hottest Band In The Land." Art at top left is in vertical format and very closely matches the final art used on the credit page 3 of the issue. The art at top right is horizontal and features Kiss in totally different outfits, closely matching how they appeared in issue #1. In fact, the synopsis makes a reference to this very fact, reading in part "Because Their Costumes Are A Bit Different Now Then When They Appeared In The First Kiss Book, I'll Cover It In Copy By Stating That It's Simply An Outward Manifestation Of Their Inner Growth." All five pieces have just slightest handling wear. Overall as framed and ready for display, Exc. Truly a one-of-a kind piece for the ultimate Kiss Kollector or the comic art enthusiast.
