Item Description
27x41" poster for Disney's fourth Oswald cartoon which was released Oct. 17, 1927. Great war-themed poster has nice large image of Oswald in Doughboy-style helmet firing tiny cork cannon at mouse soldier. In the animated short (recently released on DVD), Oswald goes to war and is blown to bits, sending him to hospital where his girlfriend Fanny, a nurse, puts him back together again. There are a mere handful of Disney-era Oswald movie posters in private hands, and this treasured one-sheet is one of the rarest. Not only is it a full-size, full-color poster featuring the character, it also promotes the specific animated short "Great Guns" rather than the character or cartoon series. This is the only poster example for this animated short known to exist and is also the earliest known cartoon specific Oswald poster. Poster has been linen-backed with some professional restoration along fold creases as originally folded and some color touch-ups that blend nicely. Displays Exc. Extremely rare.
