8x10" glossy studio portrait with superb image of Lena Horne wearing ruffled dress sitting on edge of chair which is bordered in flowers. Clear area just to right of center has 2.75" “Lena Horne” ink signature. Her name is printed at lower bottom margin. Slight margin edge wear but glossy and VF. Lena Horne (1917-2010) was an American singer, actress, Civil Rights activist and dancer. She began performing in the chorus line of the Cotton Club at the age of 16 and then moved to Hollywood where she had small parts in numerous films including Cabin In The Sky and Stormy Weather. She announced her retirement in 1980 but came back in 1981 with a one woman show titled “Lena Horne: The Lady And Her Music” which ran for more than 300 performances on Broadway. She continued recording and performing into the 1990s. Wonderful item for display. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hakes COA and JSA COA.
