Item Description
IMPORTANT UPDATE TO THE CATALOG DESCRIPTION-

The is not Santurce but rather the 1950 Sherbrooke Canadian team of the Class C Provincial League. It DOES however picture Ray Brown, as stated, as well as Silvio Garcia.

8x10" semi-glossy photo with sharp image shows 16 member team in uniform on field along with three executives in suits and two bat boys in foreground who are also in uniforms. Photo has trace of lt. aging with a few small creases at blank corners and trace of lt. dust soil. Fine. Hall of Famer Ray Brown (1908-1965) played almost exclusively for the Homestead Grays from 1932 to 1945. In 1944 he went 9-3 for the champion Grays, and threw a one hit shut-out in the Negro League World Series. He also played for the Grays in 1947 and in 1948, which was his last professional appearance. A wonderful clear and sharp image. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake’s COA.
