Item Description
This rare wrist compass, like the previous crocodile whistle test premium, is documented in General Mills Archives as a Wheaties test offer in this case between June 2 and Dec. 12, 1938. Only 3017 examples were distributed. The same item was later shown and offered in the Lone Ranger's National Defenders Secret Portfolio club manual in 1941. The .75x1.5" compass unit has a brass case with celluloid cover over the dial and a pair of slots through which is inserted an 8" long black leather strap. The reverse of the brass case has star designs joined by lines to show the constellations "Ursa Major, Big Dipper, North Star." The black leather strap is NM and the luster on the compass itself is also NM. While the item does not carry the Jack Armstrong name it is completely documented as being offered by his show. Rare and only the fourth we've seen.
