Item Description
3.5x5.5" shows players in uniform with eight standing and six sitting. The team was known as the Bulldogs and played professionally in the Ohio League from 1903-1906 and 1911-1919, then in the National Football League from 1920-1923 and 1925-1926. They won the Ohio League championship in 1917, 1918, and 1919 and the NFL championships in 1922 and 1923. In 1921-1923 the Bulldogs played 25 straight games without a defeat (including three ties) which remains an NFL record today. Card is addressed in pencil to recipient in Crawford County, PA and has postmark and American flag ink stamp near bottom of front and three different 1906 postmarks on reverse. Upper right corner tip has 5/8" hairline crease and card has some lt. dust soil. Overall VG. Nice photo early in the team's history. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA.
