Item Description
1.25” with outstanding detail and excellent coloration has W&H July 1896 patent date on the lower curl although without any backpaper. Tunnel name is on the stone work above the steaming locomotive emerging. This very famous tunnel in western Massachusetts was started in 1848 and its passage under the Hoosac Range, an extension of Vermont’s Green Mountains, was not completed until 1875 making it at the time the second longest tunnel in the world. It was the longest tunnel in North America until 1928. Comes with Hake’s COA. Exc. and displays Mint.
