Item Description
This elegant and exquisite brooch is exceptional, not just for its beautiful hand-painted image but also because of its vertical format and large size while the few of similar style we've seen are horizontal and smaller. Also, the other hand-painted examples we know of usually put the cider barrel on the right, but this artist chose to put flagpole at right with cider barrel to the left of the cabin. Size is impressive 1x1-1/8" with mint luster on the ornately detailed brass frame, four sharp corners on the beveled glass cover and rich varied colors. The pink color to the right of the cabin is a shade darker than the center area with a 1/8" air spot at the upper right that catches light but there is no color loss. The extreme upper left corner is a bit darker in color than the center area with a dot speck of paint that came loose yet remains in place so the dot is totally invisible without magnification. The reverse has original vertical "T" shaped pin. The size, vertical format and wonderful color combine to place this brooch among the finest known.
