Item Description
Gum Inc., 1930s. (See rare wrapper #1895). This is a complete set of 24 numbered 97-120 (numbering continues from the standard set of 96 cards issued by Gum Inc., see items #1893-94). However, these cards are much rarer making them one of the most desirable and elusive gum card sets of any era. Rarely have we been able to offer individual cards, only one other time in our 41 years have we offered a complete set. Card fronts feature choice art of Mickey (and a few with Minnie) along with movie stars. Reverse includes text pertaining to that particular star and object was to guess who the star was and fill in their name on card back. Stars include Groucho Marx, Charlie Chaplin, Mae West, Laurel & Hardy, Jimmy Durante, Eddie Cantor, others. Card #99 has notable surface paper flakes along margins, #119 has creases. These two are Good/VG. Cards that have moderate aging/margin wear/corner tip wear, including a few with faint crease and are VG are #98, 101, 104, 107, 115, 116, 117 and 120. Cards with margin aging/corner tip wear but are free of creases and are VG/Exc. are #97, 102, 103, 108, 110, 111 and 112. Cards #102 and 103 also have an inked number at bottom right margin. Cards that have trace of aging and just minor corner tip wear and are Exc. are #100, 105, 106, 109, 113, 114 and 118. A rare opportunity to obtain these exceptional gum cards as a complete set. As previously mentioned, the only other set we offered which was way back in April of 1999 (and a higher grade set) sold for over $11,000. Since that time, we have only offered a few single cards. A true rarity and a must-have for collectors of Disneyana and non-sport gum cards.
