Item Description
See previous item #2096. 13x16" sheet of animation paper has 2x8.75" image area done in pencil w/some orange colored pencil shading accents showing full body image of Lois Lane as she appeared in the classic Fleischer Studios "Superman" cartoons distributed by Paramount Pictures in the early 1940s. Art is surrounded by a number of handwritten number notations in pencil, each indicating what color was to be applied where. Majority of these numbers have handwritten notes, including "Hat & Bow Sepia Ink, Ink Heavy Line Above Eyes, Ink On Purse & Gloves, Sepia On Dress Hat & Feet" and has additional small eye drawn w/coloring notations. Additionally, to right of art are extensive handwritten color notes regarding the coloring of Lois Lane's various articles of clothing/accessories. Sheet has all over handling wear w/numerous small handling creases and some scattered small spots of soiling to left of art. Right center margin has 1.25x2" area of lt. staining, not affecting art. Upper right has some tiny ink spots, but image area remains clean and Exc. This is the photo example shown on page 83 in Harry Matetsky's "The Adventures Of Superman Collecting" book. All Fleischer Superman art is rare and this is a truly exceptional example. Franco Toscanini Collection.
