Item Description
12x17" DC Comics artboard features artist Tim Sale's original pen and ink cover art to the Sept. 1998 issue of noted comic industry magazine "Wizard" #85. Bold cover features large image of Superman in the sky above scenes of the Kent Farm and Metropolis skyline w/"Daily Planet" visible. Art is more inclusive than what appeared on cover, as the Kent Farm was slightly cropped and majority of Metropolis was covered by UPC barcode on actual cover. Cover was created to help promote DC Comics' 4-issue limited series "Superman: For All Seasons," written by Jeph Loeb w/art by Sale. Originally published by DC Comics in 1998, this Superman tale was hot off the heels from DC's previous success w/"Batman: The Long Halloween." Art has been signed in pencil at lower right by Sale, who adds "98" date. Two small (1/8" and .25") faint spots of staining just above Superman's head, o/w art is Exc. Comes w/reading copy of the actual magazine this art was used for, it's cover has been signed in black felt tip pen by both Loeb and Sale. Sale original cover art is very desirable and this example is about as nice as they come. Franco Toscanini Collection.
