Item Description
11x17" Sparta artboard features artist Kerry Gammill's original pen and ink cover art to the Dec. 1988 issue of "Superman" #25. Bold cover features Clark Kent standing over the dead body of Lois Lane in the daily Planet newsroom, his shirt torn open, revealing him as Superman. Cover reflects the "Head Trips" storyline by Roger Stern in which the villain Brainiac plays mental games w/Superman. Gammill's realistic rendering led to a healthy career on "Superman" from the mid -1980s through the mid-1990s. Large "Superman" title logo paste-over at top. Margins have production notations and artist Gammill has signed in black felt tip pen at lower right, inscribing art "To Michael - From One Superman Fan To Another. Best Wishes Always, Kerry Gammill." Artboard has some scattered margin handling wear and lt. aging, but art remains clean and would look Exc. if framed. Franco Toscanini Collection.
