Item Description
9.25x14" artboard has 6.25x10-7/8" image area in ink and watercolor showing nude man w/feet in ocean waves, a planet in bkg. and a starry sky visible above him. This preliminary art was created by George Bush for the cover to Jove's 1978 edition of Sci-Fi & Fantasy HOF member Theodore Sturgeon's sci-fi short story collection "A Way Home," first published in 1955 by Pyramid. This book was reprinted several times, each time featuring different cover art. Hand-lettered "'A Way Home - Theodore Sturgeon'" text below art w/"George Bush" artist name at lower right. Editorial note in black ink at upper right. This art differs from Bush's final cover art in that man's body is wrapped w/numerous wires and cables on final cover, some seen entering his body. Reverse has artist's address and phone number w/long slice and glue residue at top margin. Margins have lt. dust soiling, lower right side has 1x1.5" bit of clear tape on margin just going into edge of art. VF overall but image area is Exc.
