Item Description
Letter sizes range from 5x8” to 8.5x11”. Dates range from 1972 to 1982, though several are undated. Seven are on “Gasoline Alley” character stationery. Most prominent is letter w/lead & color pencil original art of Uncle Walt smoking pipe saying "Merry Christmas To All The Schechters!” signed “From The Moores Dick & Gretchen ‘82”. Cards include Christmas cards for 1969, 1970, 1984, 1985; three smaller calendar cards for 1981; and Moores Family thank you for condolence card. A few minor creases here and there, otherwise VF/Exc. Dick Moores (1909-1986) was an assistant to Chester Gould on “Dick Tracy” in the 1930s, leaving to do his own strip “Jim Hardy." He worked at Disney for 14 years w/credits including “Uncle Remus” and “Scamp”, leaving to assist Frank King on “Gasoline Alley” in 1956. He eventually became the main “Gasoline Alley” artist.
