Item Description
5.5x7.75" first edition hardcover w/319 pages. Published by Edgar Rice Burroughs, Inc. in 1939. The first edition of this book (which was originally published as two separate stories serialized in different pulp magazines; "Tarzan And The Magic Men" in "Argosy" from Sept. to Oct. 1936, and "Tarzan And The Elephant Men" in "Blue Book" from Nov. 1937 to Jan. 1938) was limited to 3,500 copies. Written by Tarzan creator Edgar Rice Burroughs w/five illustration plates by John Coleman Burroughs. First blank page has been boldly signed in blue ink by Edgar Rice Burroughs, who inscribed book "To Jimmy Whiting - Best Wishes - Edgar Rice Burroughs." Original owner has also added his own cataloging information in ink to inside front/back covers. Book has some wear to top of spine w/color touch-up and corner tip wear and is Fine overall. Pages are lightly aged and Exc. overall. Page Burroughs has signed has aged a bit more moderately but inscription/signature remain bold and distinct. VF. Comes with Hake's COA and JSA LOA.
