Item Description
26.5x33.5" thin vinyl cape w/red vinyl piping at top has large full body image of spaceman w/helmet and "Doak Walker's Magic Outer Space Cape" text. Small patent text at bottom center w/"This Plastic Cape Is A Toy And Has No Magic Qualities" warning. 1950s. Walker was the 1948 Heisman Trophy winner who went on to an NFL career as a running back w/the Detroit Lions 1950-1955. Walker was voted NFL Rookie of the Year in 1950, played in five Pro Bowls, and played in two NFL championships (1952, 1953). He was also elected to the College Football HOF and the Pro Football HOF. His NFL career coincided w/the heyday of children's space TV shows, leading to this item. Cape has all over rippling to thin material w/some soiling along edges. Fine overall and nicely shrink-wrapped for display (could be removed if so desired). Comes w/Walker's 1955 Bowman football card. Cape is rare and first we've seen in our 48 years.
