Item Description
See next item #1761). Both thin art boards have India ink art by creator Frank Willard. July 29, 1928 top half is 13x17.75” w/logo and six panels. Logo has Kayo hosing water on Lord Plushbottom who thinks it’s raining. Storyline has Emmy holding newspaper w/ad of her niece “Goo Goo Girlies Little Egypt” and refers to her as an “Empty Headed Whipper Snapper”. Kayo tells Plushbottom his “Brudder” Moon has a date w/her after the show. Plushbottom goes to the theater and gives an African American man a note for Egypt which refers to Moon as a “Banjo Eyed Idiot”. Plushbottom sees Egypt as irate Moon yells in background. Paste up title logo has edge wear, art has lt. aging, otherwise VF+. June 1938 Sunday is 18.25x19.75” w/11 panels. Storyline has Mamie and friend going to movies and leaving Uncle Willie to babysit yelling twins. The ladies come home but can’t get in as Willie has put on ear muffs to get some sleep. Each panel has been cut inside the border line and page has been taped back together w/paper tape on reverse. Portion of “Willard” ink signature is missing in last panel, trace of white-out here and there. VG/Fine overall. Both are well drawn, early, and funny examples.
